Legal Counsel Job

To oversee and manage a full range of legal, corporate affairs and contractual services, including providing Company Secretary, legal advice and opinion, engaging and briefing external legal counsels and managing litigation matters in order to safeguard and ensure the Company's best interests in all relevant occasions.
Supervision of the subordinate team including their training and development is integral part of the role.

- Develop the departmental strategy in line with the functional strategy to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies across the Company.
- Ensure that departmental strategies and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, which are aligned with the vision and mission of the Company.
- Develop strategies and relationships with external stakeholders (regulators, government agencies, shareholders and external counsel).
KPI:
- The department strategy is aligned with the functional strategy and is documented, approved, in place, communicated and implemented.
- Manage the effective achievement of Legal departmental objectives through the leadership of the Legal department - setting individual objectives, recruiting qualified staff, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal - in order to maximise subordinate and departmental performance.
KPI
- Oversee the consolidation and recommend the Legal department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.

- Develop and oversee the implementation of department policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of Legal department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.

- Compliance with procedural and legislative requirements.
- Effective communication of policies and procedures.
- Oversees and reviews the development of contractual work and documents and supports managers in the resolution of all contractual issues/disputes in order to secure Company's best interests
- Oversees various Regulatory Compliance activities in order to ensure full compliance to legal regulations and conditions
- Provides legal opinions, advice and recommendations to the board and top management to secure the Company's best interests and sound legal position
- Provides oversight of and advice on the legal aspects of company's joint venture arrangements
- Ensures the implementation and compliance to the company's code of conduct and business ethics guidelines to ensure sound legal position
- Monitors, provides guidance on and investigates regulatory, policy and ethical issues within the company
