Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage & malfunctions
Conduct a test drive on vehicles, test the components & systems using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges & computerized diagnostic devices
Overhaul engines & repair transmission
Repair, re-line, replace & adjust brakes
Review the work orders & discuss work with supervisors
Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake & fuel systems, wheel bearing & other potentially troublesome areas
Plan work procedures using charts, technical manuals, etc.
Test & adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers performance specifications
Perform routine & scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication & tune-ups
Disassemble units & inspect parts using micrometers, calipers & gauges
Advise Service Advisor of diagnosis, repairs required & cost estimates. Also notify the workshop controller of repairs that will require additional time
Advise Service Advisor when additional work is required to be done on customer's vehicle
Reports directly to Workshop Manager / Workshop Controller
